Emerald Media Group is the independent student-run media organization behind The Daily Emerald, the University of Oregon’s primary news source. The organization produces daily digital journalism, live sports coverage, investigative reporting, and multimedia storytelling that serves the UO campus and surrounding Eugene community.

My Role:

As part of the marketing team, I contribute to audience growth and brand strategy by shaping how content is distributed and consumed across digital platforms. My work focuses on translating journalism into platform-native content that increases visibility, strengthens audience connection, and drives traffic to the publication.

  • Develop and execute Instagram and TikTok content strategies that translate breaking news, feature stories, and sports coverage into engaging, platform-specific formats that drive website traffic.

  • Leverage Google Analytics and platform insights to analyze audience behavior, engagement trends, and content performance, applying findings to optimize distribution strategy and timing.

  • Support real-time brand presence through live social coverage of campus events, rallies, and athletic games, ensuring timely storytelling while maintaining a consistent brand voice.

  • Conduct interviews and gather audience perspectives to inform content direction and strengthen community-centered storytelling.
